Sturt and Hume Chenin Colombard 2006Terrific crowd-pleasing white soaked in sunshine and full of zesty, unoaked fruit flavour
Named after two early 19th Century explorers (Sturt was the first explorer to venture along the Murray River), the Sturt & Hume range is a small selection of wines put together by the excellent "Buronga Hill boys" each year.
Winemaker Matt Fawcett - who worked at Brown Bros for many years - created this crisp and refreshing Chenin Blanc with a splash of Colombard for added zest.
In style it's a thoroughly modern Australian wine - unoaked and with beautifully defined fruit. At just 12% alcohol, it is deliberately more elegant than the big heavy Australian Chardonnays that have flooded the market in recent years.
