Laithwaite Clairet De La Clariere Bordeaux 2004Soft and rounded with aromas of fresh, juicy strawberries and raspberries - simply delicious!
Our very own Clairet … first released in 1989, and still going strong! Made from Merlot grapes to give a soft roundness to the wine, and only left on the skins for a couple of days to ensure maximum fruit flavours.
Very little Clairet is now available on the market, despite it being the original wine from Bordeaux - the generic English term for red Bordeaux, "claret", is believed to stem from Clairet - but it's proved hugely popular with Laithwaites customers.
Light plum in colour, with succulent aromas of juicy strawberries and raspberries. Rich enough to accompany food, and great with gammon or roast pork, as well as Thai or Chinese cuisine.
