Stonewall is a terrific Sauvignon with delicious minerality that reflects the flinty, free draining soils of the Wairau Valley. Intense with lively citrus and hints of freshly chopped herbs, it’s a terrific white from the brilliant John Forrest.

Founded in 1988 by a doctor and a scientist, Forrest Estate was one of the first wineries in Marlborough – and it remains one of the finest. Winning a Trophy for their first vintage in 1990, John and Brigid Forrest now are regular award winners. Key to their superb Sauvignon are grapes from 25 year old, low yield vines in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley – famed for its premium, intense fruit. Harvesting takes place in the cool of night to maximise the mineral freshness and lively guava and lemon flavours. The couple are now assisted by their three children Sam, Beth and Reid. And it’s the family’s passion for wine, hard toil and dedication that makes their Sauvignon such a success. Spot on with spicy dishes, fish, exotic salads, or on its own.
