Bordeaux's new El Dorado is Castillon, the Right Bank region next door to Saint Emilion that shares the same soil, climate, grapes and so on. Indeed “If it weren’t for the political line dividing it from Saint Emilion, its wines would be twice or three times the price” (Wine International). Tony Laithwaite was certain of the region’s potential when he invested there nearly 30 years ago and has spent that time since proving it. With over 75 medals to date, including 19 Golds and the hugely prestigious Lauréat, he has made his point. The team takes enormous care at every stage both in the vineyard and in the cellar sparing no expense. His son Henry is winemaker now and is proud of his 2011. Let the wine breathe and serve with roast red meats.

"Patience at harvest time and meticulous care has paid off in 2011 – a lusciously rich, deep claret" Henry Laithwaite
