Casa Rural Tempranillo 2012

Castilla VdT

With modern day investment, the ancient vineyards of La Mancha have taken quality and value to new heights, as demonstrated here with this juicy, gently oaked red. Casa Rural is pure Tempranillo, mainstay of Rioja, and has appealing berry fruit.

Our Buyer for Spain, Beth, has a reputation for seeking out extra special, exciting and exceptional value Spanish wines. She was alerted to this Tempranillo by Lauren Rosillo, winemaker for one of the finest producers in Rioja, Familia Martínez Bujanda. We have of course all been friends for, well, as long as any of us can remember, and while we love Lauren’s fine Riojas we are never averse to reds of similar style and quality from elsewhere, if they are a bargain. This oak aged Tempranillo comes from old vines grown high up in Tierra de Castilla, the plains south of Madrid. As you can see, it is a 2012 vintage, so now perfectly rounded and smooth. With its silky, soft red fruits, Casa Rural is ideal for enjoying with tapas or grilled lamb.

"Soft and fruity with a bit of oak and maturity. An ideal easy going red" Beth Willard
