Head to Italy's beautiful, mountain-fringed northeast and you come to the acclaimed and very high quality region of Friuli. Here there's a tradition for creating lavish, multi-varietal wines ("some of Italy's greatest" says Decanter) at fine wine prices - anything from £20 to £30 a bottle, if you can find them. Most can only be enjoyed at even more eye-watering prices in the grand restaurants of Milan and Venice. Which makes Visionario Rosato remarkable value!

Visionario is the inspiration of local Friuli star Alessandro Gallici, and demonstrates the innovative approach to winemaking that helped him win the Calice Dorico (Golden Chalice) for Best Winery. Alessandro carefully harvested from a variety of prime sites within both the Friuli region and tiny, neighbouring Collio … small parcels of premium local grape varieties, delivering the same quality and flavour - but at a far more favourable price than famous single-estate wines.

And it's very, very good indeed! Brimfull of ripe, lip-smacking Summer fruits and a mineral-laced, crisp finish. A luscious, very elegant and refreshing apéritif or wonderful accompaniment to seafood!
