Description The Laithwaite brand is reserved for wines that Tony Laithwaite has been closely involved with from start to finish and those that are regarded 'best of class'.
Usually they are made by the Laithwaite winemaking team in collaboration with a chosen cellar. This can be anywhere in the world. The original concept for this wine arose from a desire to make a white worthy to partner the claret from Château La Clarière Laithwaite in the Côtes de Castillon. With no white grape vineyards of our own, we looked further afield and found the best Sauvignon Blanc in the Entre-Deux-Mers.
Jean-Marc Sauboua is the winemaker behind this tremendous, award-winning white ... a world-class Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc "at a price to send a shiver down a Sancerre maker's spine" (Daily Mail).
In just five vintages, it has clocked a phenomenal 33 accolades, including 'White Wine of the Year' at the prestigious International WINE Magazine Challenge, and numerous press recommendations. The Observer commented: "Proof that white Bordeaux doesn't have to be thin and mediocre, this zesty New World (style) Sauvignon Blanc is a delicious glass of wine."
It is pure Sauvignon Blanc, harvested in the cool early morning and fermented at a low temperature in stainless steel - all the modern techniques to capture the vibrant grassy freshness of this grape.
