Master winemaker Philippe Mercadier has a display cabinet full of awards, including a Gold medal from London’s biggest wine show. His family own several famous châteaux in Bordeaux and also, for many decades now, Domaine Mercadier, in the northern part of the Corbières region.
Philippe’s famously luxurious, buttery Chardonnay puts many £10+ Burgundies in the shade. He’s obsessive about quality and this special wine shows what magnificent results he can achieve. Grapes are picked in the cool of the night to retain all the crisp, fresh aromas.
Refreshing and full-flavoured with whistle-clean citrus and green apple flavours. Lively and fresh on the finish. Delicious with rich, creamy chicken dishes.

Beautiful fruity aromas with the unmistakeable butteriness of a Bourgogne Chardonnay. Surprisingly clean and fresh on the palate, with a smooth creamy start that develops into a whole range of exotic fruits before the crisp (and surprisingly long!) finish. Reminiscent of a Sauvignon Blanc, but sufficiently tempered to be thoroughly enjoyable with food (lemon chicken) and on its own. **** - Mr P Avgustinov, Oxfordshire - 06/05/2008 20:57:15
