Description
"Amarone - Italy's most luxurious red - a special-occasion wine to savour" (The Independent).
Made only from premium indigenous grapes: Rondinella, Corvina and Molinara - Amarone (and its sweet counterpart 'Recioto') are made from grapes that are first hand-sorted and then dried for months on reed or bamboo racks. They shrivel to a fraction of their original size, (yielding perhaps only 30% juice) and through a process of complex chemical change produce a concentrated alcoholic wine with an amazing array of flavours, textures and depth.
Aged in high-quality oak for 18 months this is a jewel of perfectly structured, velvety-smooth red with dense black-cherry, prunes and sweet spice flavours. Drink now with rich Bolognese sauces, cannelloni, mushroom risotto ... or leave to develop over the next few years.
