Description This award wining Rioja cellar is owned by the Vivanco family who have been making wine since 1915. Their impressive 10,000 barrel cellar is located in the village of Alberite, 12 kilometres from Logroño (the capital of La Rioja), in the heart of wine production in Rioja. Next door you will find famous bodegas Muga and Cune.
Conde Alegre is made purely from Rioja's noble Tempranillo grape. It produces a mid-depth red wine with an aromatic, fruity bouquet and gentle, soft red berry fruit with good acidity for ageing. Sixty percent of the wine comes from the Rioja Alavesa and was unoaked, while the rest was from the high reaches of the Rioja Alta, with a portion aged in French oak and another in American oak, for six months.
This combination of methods helps to obtain the perfect balance of upfront, juicy fruit, forward vanilla-scented oak and the more subtle flavours the French wood imparts.
Winemaker at the bodega is the experienced Paloma Redonda, who has been working at the cellar since 2002 and in the Rioja region for 21 years.

This was the first bottle I tried from the Fours Seasons Reds intro case. All I can say is if the rest of them are half as good as this Rioja, then I doubt whether they'll last until Christmas!Absolutely superb. Easy to drink, lots of flavour, and very moreish! Will be ordering a case of this for sure! - Mr M Buckland, Essex - 11/12/2008 10:17:53

Mr G Potts, Northumberland
The first of the Lathwaites wines we tried, and both myself and Susan loved this one. It is actually the first red Susan has liked. Very light pleasant fruity taste, reminiscent of summer fruits. Lovely just to drink on its own in front of the fire relaxing and watching tv. Will definitely order more. - Mr G Potts, Northumberland - 29/11/2008 20:20:39
