Sandwiched between Minervois to the north and the Côtes du Roussillon to the south, the Corbières region is described by Jancis Robinson MW as "the most important appellation in the Languedoc region … producing some excitingly dense, herby red wines".
This red is from a single estate in the village of Talairan where the residents have been making wine for three centuries. It takes its name from the nearby Chapel of Notre Dame de l'Aire, which dates back to the 13th century, and became a retreat for members of religious orders.
Rich and spicy, with ripe red and black berry flavours and hints of wild herbs. Delicious with roast lamb or char-grilled vegetables.
