Description
LBV or late bottled vintage port, is, like vintage port, the wine of a single vintage year. It is however kept in barrel for twice as long - ie between 3.5 and six years making it slightly lighter in flavour and colour than vintage port.
This LBV comes from Weis e & Krohn, a house founded back in 1865. It was taken over in 1921 by Edmund Arnsby and his brother Frederick, an experienced Port taster from the House of Croft, and Edmundo Carneiro, a Portuguese export manager who had been working for the firm since 1910. Edmundo's son, Fernando took over from his father and he is still the current Chairman of the company. His daughter, Iolanda, is the winemaker and his son José also works in the family business.
Rich and sweet with complex layers of dried fruit cake flavours and the firmness of a vintage port.
