Tasting note
Colour - Mid-red with purple hues. Aroma - Forward spicy red berry fruits with hints of violets. Taste - Soft, velvety plum and almondy cherry flavours with a hint of spice. Gentle, rounded tannins.

Description
Montepulciano lies on Italy's central Adriatic coast and, in Summer, is invaded by hoards of tourists, keen to bask in the sunshine on the well-groomed beaches and drink the lovely wines.

Although just inland it is quieter and the scenery is beautifully lush, green and unspoilt, few venture that far ... maybe put off by the area's reputation as the most earthquake-prone zone of all Italy! It is here and further west on the lower mountain slopes that Abruzzo cultivates its many vines.

Established in 1999, the Torre Galasso family estate lies among these hills. It is surrounded by its 120 hectares of prime vineyards, planted between 200 and 400 metres above sea level, with an impressive backdrop of the Apennine mountains. Owner and winemaker at the cellar is Ettore Galasso - a perfectionist from the growing of the grapes to the finished article in the bottle.

Principe di Monte Nevoso is his unoaked Montepulciano - designed to show off all its glorious fruit. It has been carefully crafted from all estate-grown grapes, planted high up on the Abruzzo hillsides, so the vines are well-drained and produce concentrated flavour.
