Serving suggestions
Visionario makes a superb, elegant apéritif. It's great with food too - cold salmon, chicken, creamy pasta, prawn or spring vegetable risotto, or creamy cheeses.

Description
There were eight awards for the previous vintage of this outstanding wine and we're expecting equal acclaim from this newly released 2007 - a vintage that saw yields plummet and flavour power climb in the other direction.

Visionario is a unique wine combining the native varieties of apricot-scented Tocai, a speciality of the Veneto, with crisp, grassy Sauvignon Blanc, and 5% each of Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer and Malvasia. As you can see, it's quite an eclectic mix, but one that usually only appears on the pricy wine lists of expensive Milan restaurants. It's the inspiration of classic motorcycle-loving Alessandro Gallicci at Banear in the Veneto, a cellar recently honoured with the Calice Dorico - Best Winery in competition.

I was asked to provide a wine for a celebratory lunch for which the starter was a mozarella, orange and anchovy salad.
