Description
"Don't bother searching for Cloudy Bay and save money with this terrific wine" The Independent
Brightwater Sauvignon 2007 is from New Zealand’s Nelson region ... a short ride over the mountains from Marlborough. Small production and so strict allocation - especially for this highly regarded vintage, which was awarded 5* by Cuisine magazine and also 5* by respected NZ wine writer Michael Cooper - but we managed to secure some precious cases.
Each vintage causes an avalanche of press acclaim. Since it burst onto the scene in 1999 it’s won Golds above some of New Zealand’s biggest names, has been awarded marks in the mid 90s from the great and good of the wine world and been singled out as one of the best Kiwi Sauvignons to drink with food. This year was no exception and the winery is going from strength to strength.
Wonderfully intense aromas – fresh-cut grass, gooseberry, lemon – and rich, long-lasting flavours of zesty tropical fruits. Crisp, pure and lively, it makes an excellent apéritif but is fine enough to partner grilled fish (like turbot), lemon chicken or Thai food.
