Who'd have thought giving Australia's signature red Shiraz a turbo boost with little known French heavyweight Durif - "the grape that takes no prisoners" (The Observer) - would prove such a hit. But the inky dark, juicy black fruit and soft, spicy oak sees The Black Stump regularly storm the annual Customer Poll, and top our bestsellers list year after year. It takes its name from an Oz expression meaning 'the back of beyond' and is made by Alan Kennett at the remote Casella family winery, unusually with two English winemakers at the helm who make The Black Stump exclusively for us.
