Château Roc de Boisseaux 2003
Velvety, Merlot-rich red made just a stone's throw away from famous Château Monbousquet
The vineyards for this plummy, blackcurrant-packed red wine lie just 400 metres from those of Château Monbousquet - one of Saint-Emilion's finest estates - and enjoy the same sandy, clay and gravel soils that help give quality and flavour to wines from this region.
With plenty of experience of winemaking in Burgundy, the Clowez family - who have owned the estate since the 1980s - have worked hard to keep on raising the quality of their wines - and their efforts have paid off, with vintage after vintage winning highly sought-after medals in Paris.
"Ripe plum, damson and blackcurrant aromas merge seamlessly into smooth vanilla and cedar notes from ageing in finest oak barrels. A classic partner to roast lamb and griddled meats."
