Colomé Torrontes 2007
Sublime, lychee-scented gem from Argentina's mountainous vineyards. 91-points from Wine Enthusiast.
It was just the type of news we love to hear: "a deal has fallen through - stocks of the finest Decanter award-winning Torrontés must be sold - immediately!".
We needed no second invitation - we flew in, snaffled the lot and got you a great deal on a mind-blowingly aromatic Torrontés from an estate with the world's highest vineyards.
Founded in 1831, Bodega Colomé is Argentina's oldest working winery. In 2001 they invested in a small, boutique winery in Salta and planted vineyards at a staggering 2300m above sea level.
The extreme altitude creates grapes with immense flavour concentration due to long hours of sunshine and cold nights. It's what makes Colomé Torrontés so utterly unique and irresistible. Highly recommended - even super critic Robert Parker is a fan - don't miss out!
"Much better and way more complex than your average Torrontés. The bouquet is flower power, lychee and tangerine, and overall this is an exotic, driving wine like no other from Argentina. Expect roundness and similarities to Viognier; it's amplified and impressive - Best Buy. 91 Points" - Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
