When winemakers die, they dream of going to Chile for here you have the nearest thing to grapevine Eden. Flanked by the Andes mountains and the Pacific Ocean, it's virtually pest free (in the vineyards at least!)
An absence of Summer rain keeps vine diseases at bay and right along the Andes you can find cool temperatures, plenty of sunshine and abundant water from melting snow. Not surprisingly Chilean wines have wonderfully pure fruit flavours.
The best Chilean wines have a clarity of flavour you just don't find anywhere else. And almost every vintage is a great vintage (with only occasional interruptions from El Niño) so if you're looking for reliability and consistency, Chilean wines are hard to beat.
