Winemaker Andrew McPherson grew up in the world of wine, tutored by his entrepreneurial father Jock, who established a winery in the Hunter in 1968. (Previously, Jock had been a radio announcer, airman, fisherman, duck farmer, publicist, publisher and sawmill owner!) Andrew travelled the world designing, building and installing wineries, then in the late 1980s became Vice President of Export for the renowned Wyndham Estate Wines. He now 'goes it alone' and built a new cellar for himself in 2000. The third generation of the family now assists in the winery, which boasts a rating of 4.5 Stars from James Halliday. Jock's Cabernet is a rich, weighty red full of juicy cassis fruit and with a long finish. Great with hearty dishes and red meats.
