Frankland River is the coolest and most isolated wine growing region in Western Australia and, though it is chiefly known for Shiraz, the classic red Bordeaux blend of Cabernet and Merlot also works brilliantly here - "They have elegance, style and natural balance thanks to a cool maritime climate and a long growing season" (Tim Atkin MW).Ferngrove was founded in 1996 by Murray Burton, who mortgaged the family's century old dairy farm to plant a vineyard and build a winery. From the outset, Murray's aim has been to uphold the highest possible standards in viticulture and he has been rewarded with a 5 Star rating from James Halliday. His superbly elegant oak aged Cabernet Sauvignon will make a fine partner to roast lamb or beef.
