John and Brigid Forrest manage their beautiful Marlborough estate with the assistance of their three children, Reid, Beth and Sam, plus a dozen or so key members of staff - though Frankie the Border collie and Merlot the cat are never far from the action. So obsessed is John with quality, that he often leaves grapes on the vines if they fail to meet his demanding standards. Stonewall Sauvignon is made from 25 year old low yielding vines in the Wairau Valley that give exceptionally concentrated fruit. With its history of top awards, this wine is so much in demand locally that only a few cases make it to the UK. Fresh, ripe and fruity, it makes a lovely glass solo and a fine accompaniment to fresh crab, exotic salads or spicy Thai dishes.
