Petits châteaux clarets have never been better! Taking their lead from the region's élite Crus Classés châteaux they have become paradigms of modern winemaking. Such clarets are not only delicious but terrific value - especially in this practical 3 litre format, which keeps the wine fresh for weeks once opened. The Pobeda family's Château Roc Mignon is one of our favourites from the 2008 vintage. It's a blend of Merlot, Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon from the family's 20 hectare estate in the Entre Deux Mers. The vines are 30 years old, so the fruit has superb intensity of flavour. Dark, ripe, succulent and smooth, it's very well made and classic. Serve with classic cuisine such as roast lamb, beef, duck, or grilled steak and pepper sauce.
