Domaine du Point du Jour has been in the Depardon family for five generations. They remain true to their roots, producing authentic Beaujolais from the hand harvested fruit of old vines. Fermentation is traditional - whole bunches undergo 'semi carbonic maceration'. This differs from normal red wine fermentation, in which grapes are destemmed and crushed, and accentuates the fruitiness of the wine. Jocelyne Depardon took over from her father in 1988 and was joined by brother in law Erick Copéret a decade later. The vineyards, high on the Fleurie slopes, ripen late, which promotes more aromatic flavours. This is beautifully rich, balanced Fleurie with exceptional vintage ripeness. Decant and enjoy with charcuterie or roast pork.
