This is a delightful fruity rosé from Martin Morales at Trivento Bodegas y Vinedos in Mendoza. Martin selected the grapes from vineyards around 750 metres high, where cool nighttime temperatures slow down their ripening - bringing their aromatic qualities to the fore. Using cool fermentation he has captured all their fragrant, fresh character.Bastiana was named after the traditional haciendas of Mendoza, which were built to look like Spanish-style castles - as the Spanish were some of the first Europeans to settle in Argentina in the 16th century. Tasty as a glass on its own, this delicious pink is surprisingly versatile, and will make a lovely partner to a pea and pancetta risotto, grilled white fish or lightly spiced Asian dishes.
