Sierra Almirón is from Carlos Martínez Bujanda, whose family has been one of the most dynamic and innovative in Rioja over the last 20 years. Carlos branched out and explored the huge potential of La Mancha, one of the most dynamic regions in modern Spain, buying 1,000 hectares of vines and building a modern cellar to match the family's flagship property in Rioja. His new bodega, Finca Antigua, won the title 'Most Awarded Winery in Spain' in 2006.Sierra Almirón is a highly unusual example of a Spanish red made purely from Malbec - best known as Argentina's star performer. A silky ripe red with a lovely balance, it's excellent on its own and also a perfect match with chicken dishes - roasted or braised with herbs, tomato and garlic.
