Chief RedHeads winemaker Steve Grimley worked alongside young prodigy Jess Hardy to produce this fine McLaren Vale red. The key to the standout quality was selecting the grapes from three different sites in the foothills of the Willunga Ranges, where cooling coastal breezes funnel along the ridge line, so grapes ripen long and slow. The result is some of the region's most complex and elegant wines. They chose the three main grapes of Bordeaux - the two Cabernets, plus Merlot - that naturally complement each other, fermenting each parcel separately, before maturing them for 14 months in oak. Careful blending of the best barrels has produced a luxurious wine that will be delicious now, yet will mature, too. A superb partner for roast lamb.
