Quality standards in Muscadet have risen dramatically in the last 20 years, but prices have yet to catch up - so much so that it's "probably the world's greatest white wine value", according to fine wine expert Robert Parker. La Nantaise is from Noël Bougrier, a fourth-generation winemaker whose family's cellar is based on the River Cher, in the Touraine. Noël is passionate about the wines of the Loire and searches the length of the valley for special parcels of grapes, so when the 2010 harvest came in he was on the spot to earmark the best for his cellar. A lovely Summery apéritif, La Nantaise is the perfect partner to seafood, especially oysters or moules marinières, and is delicious too with grilled white fish, light salads and quiches.
