Thirty years ago Marlborough was known only for barley and sheep. The success story of this remote wine region is one of the most remarkable in modern times, and one in which Hunter's has played a major part. Today the estate is run by Jane Hunter, a viticulturist with a string of accolades for her excellent work, including a 'UK Women in Wine Award', an OBE and, most recently, Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) for services to viticulture.This is a classic bubbly made, like the best, from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and, as fans will tell you, guaranteed to impress. Fine, creamy and seriously delicious, this is a luxurious rival to Brut Champagne. Drink as an apéritif, or with smoked salmon or seafood.
