Sierra Almirón is from Carlos Martínez Bujanda, whose family has been one of the most dynamic and innovative in Rioja over the last 25 years. Carlos branched out and explored the huge potential of La Mancha, one of the most dynamic regions in modern Spain, buying 1,000 hectares of land and planting it with vines, and building a state of the art cellar to match the family's flagship property in Rioja. His new bodega, Finca Antigua, won the title 'Most Awarded Winery in Spain' in 2006.Sierra Almirón is a highly unusual Spanish Malbec - a grape best known as Argentina's star performer. A silky ripe red with a lovely balance, it's tasty solo and also a perfect match with chicken, roasted vegetables with feta, or pork and cannellini bean stew.
